No passport deposit is not the same as no deposit

Look for the refundable deposit amount on the listing. A bike can follow the no-passport rule and still require a cash deposit. Compare this amount separately from the rental charge, extras and delivery.

Before pickup, ask how the deposit is paid, when it is returned and which deductions the written rental terms permit. A refundable deposit is not an insurance policy and does not, by itself, define your maximum liability for damage or theft.

Identity and licence checks still matter

A shop may need to see your identity and driving documents to establish who is renting the bike. Showing a document for verification is different from leaving the original behind as collateral. Ask why a copy is needed and how it will be used if you are unsure.

Check the licence requirement shown by the shop and consult the official rules for your own issuing country before travelling. A rental request being accepted is not proof that your licence or travel insurance covers your intended riding.

Make the deposit agreement clear

Keep the booking details and the shop’s written terms accessible. At handover, agree the return time, fuel requirement and any existing concerns about the bike directly with the shop. RideLanna does not require you to submit a scooter condition report to the platform.

If the shop asks to keep your original passport, do not hand it over as a deposit. Contact the shop to resolve the discrepancy before starting the rental, and use the booking’s problem-reporting option to tell RideLanna.
