Fuel and returning your rental scooter in Chiang Mai

Updated October 2026 · RideLanna editorial team

Book a scooter

Set up the return when you collect the scooter. An agreed fuel level, appointment and equipment list make the last day easier, especially if you have a flight or hotel change afterwards.

Fuel, late-return charges and collection arrangements are shop-specific. Keep the accepted terms rather than relying on a rule used by a different rental company.

Record the starting fuel arrangement

Check the fuel gauge with the shop at pickup and agree how the bike must be returned. Keep a photo or written note of the starting level. Ask what happens if the required fuel is missing and how any charge is calculated.

Have the shop identify the correct fuel for the actual vehicle and show you the fuel-cap opening if needed. Use the bike’s instructions and the shop’s guidance; this article does not prescribe one fuel grade for every model and year.

Plan the last fuel stop before the appointment

Leave enough time to refuel as agreed and reach the return location without rushing. Check the fuel level before your final journey, especially if the hotel and shop are in different areas. A last-minute stop should not determine whether you miss your onward transport.

If you have a question about the gauge or fuel requirement, ask the shop before the return day. Avoid replacing an agreed fuel level with an estimated cash amount unless the shop accepts that arrangement.

Bring back the complete equipment set

Check the keys, helmets and every accessory recorded at handover. Agree a time when the shop can inspect the scooter with you. Compare the condition against the starting notes and ask for an explanation of any proposed deduction.

If collection is arranged, confirm who will attend, the meeting point and what evidence records the return. Do not leave the scooter or keys unattended without an explicit procedure from the shop.

Leave room to settle the deposit

Allow time for the condition and fuel check, any agreed final payment and the deposit return process. Save the final receipt or acknowledgement. RideLanna does not hold the deposit, so the shop must explain how and when it is returned.

If your schedule changes, contact the shop before the existing return time. A late flight or another hotel night does not automatically extend the rental. Review any proposed change and keep its accepted details with your booking.

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Must every scooter be returned with a full tank?

Follow the fuel arrangement accepted for the selected rental. Record the starting level and return requirement with the shop.

Can I leave the scooter at my hotel?

Only if the shop explicitly agrees to that return procedure. Delivery at the start does not automatically include unattended collection.

What if I am late returning it?

Contact the shop before the agreed time. Any extra charge or extension depends on the accepted rental terms and availability.
