How to extend a scooter rental in Chiang Mai

Updated October 2026 · RideLanna editorial team

Book a scooter

Contact the shop before the agreed return time if you want to keep the scooter longer. An extension depends on its next bookings, the permitted rental duration and acceptance of the revised price and dates.

The original booking stays the reference until a change is agreed. Keeping the scooter for another day is not, by itself, an accepted extension.

Give the shop a complete new date range

Send the current booking reference, the proposed return date and time, and any change of address or route. A request for ‘a few more days’ leaves too much uncertain for the shop to check the next allocation.

Ask early enough to organise another plan if the bike cannot stay with you. The shop may need it for a confirmed customer or a service appointment. Be prepared to return it under the original agreement if the change is not accepted.

Agree the price without assuming the old discount continues

Ask for the revised rental total and how any extra payment will be handled. Confirm delivery or collection changes and whether optional extras remain in use. Keeping the same vehicle does not mean every additional day has the same effective rate.

If the new period exceeds the shop’s standard booking limit, it may need an individual quote. A quote for a longer stay is a proposal to review, not an automatic monthly contract or a new confirmed reservation.

Keep the changed terms in writing

Where the shop proposes a change through RideLanna, open your booking and review the dates, total and any other amended details before accepting. Do not rely on the email subject alone when the current booking page contains the change to inspect.

If arrangements are discussed directly, keep the shop’s written acceptance with the booking and ask how the reservation will be updated. A conversation about possible availability is not the same as a completed amendment.

Reset the return and maintenance plan

Agree the new return appointment, fuel requirement and deposit arrangements. If the additional period involves more riding or a longer stay, ask about servicing and how the shop wants a mechanical concern reported.

Avoid authorising repairs or changing the agreed travel area without permission. If the extension cannot be accepted, return on time, settle the existing rental and make a separate request for another suitable offer if needed.

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Can I just keep the scooter and pay later?

Only an accepted change alters the rental. Contact the shop before the return time and get the new dates and price agreed.

Will a weekly discount carry into the extension?

That depends on the accepted revised offer. Ask for the complete price instead of assuming the original effective daily rate continues.

Does an extension request reserve the bike?

No. Wait for the shop’s acceptance and check the updated booking terms before relying on the extra days.
